AW25 Task 6.3 Streamline Squarespace

Updated: Nov 29, 2022

For today's task you will be editing Jo's website a bit more.

Part 1

Use your new knowledge to change the styling of the website to suit Jo’s illustration style.

Part 2

Try editing the styles of the image blocks. To do this go into Site styles > Image blocks. Experiment with different settings to see what effect they create. Remember to preview the website design to get an idea of the effects of the settings that you are changing.

Part 3

Practice changing the text and images on the About me and Contact me pages. Take screenshots of your process and final website for your blog, before the trial expires.

Tasks:

I did some changes and experiments with Jo's new website.

I picked made a color palette from one of Jo's illustrations

I made a simple logo inspired by other illustrator logos, which consists of simple handwritten name of the illustrator. I picked a blue color which fits with the website color palette I used.

I kept the website background white as it seems to be the most common color for portfolios and used blue or black for the text. I went with "Adorn condensed sans" font for all text blocks. I also changed the images on the "About me" and "Contact me" pages.

I experimented with different animated backgrounds and found this spotty one which fits the website theme.

On the "My illustrations" page I played with the gallery settings and made the pictures smaller and easier to see as seen on other illustrator websites.

Last but not least the footer I made in blue to make it different from the other background.

Conclusion: I really enjoyed working with Squarepsace. It contains tutorials for every aspect of the design options and it's easy to navigate.
