Lesson Task - Working with WordPress

Firstly you need to download and install* WordPress. Then publish it to your web hosting account. Create a subfolder if you wish to avoid conflicts with previous websites. *Most hosting companies have the option to install WordPress directly. Look into that for your specific hosting company. Once it is installed, you can start having some fun. Choose and download a theme that best suits you and install it. Then customize this theme in order to create a portfolio website for yourself. This will be your test site for the duration of this module.

After struggling for a little (I have never used WorldPress before) I managed to figure out how to set up a very simple website with it. I do have to admit I am not a huge fan of the service, because I think the options to customize and the freedom to do what you like are extremely limited.

I used my original website as a guide to create a second page as my WorldPress website.

I used the WorldPress editor on One.com

At first I started with the "Yoga Instructor" theme, but later changed to "Signify Dark" which I feel was closer to my original website. I changed the background color to match my original one and added my logo and name on the top. I then customized the menu and added different elements to the pages. I also included a small sample of my work with photography and graphic design on the Portfolio page.

I am yet to fill up the page with more information, but I think I did ok for a start.
